Dear Friend,
Here at Stowell Learning Center, we consider Samonas Sound Therapy an essential tool of our profession. The results are rapid, predictable and, according to parents, almost miraculous. Yet, those results are the result of the scientific use of sound.

Here's what Jill has to say about it. . .

I am passionate about Samonas Sound Therapy. It's so effective, I have 90% of my students using it, even if we're using other protocols in the treatment plan as well.

Samonas is a cornerstone of my successful professional practice because it is so effective, with far-reaching benefits for struggling students. That's why I encourage all our members and colleagues to become trained to use it.

And, the simplicity of the program makes it one parents can easily use at home .

If you don't know how powerful sound therapy is in treating ADD/ADHD, learning or language problems, relationship issues and more, you're missing a major opportunity to move your students farther. . . faster.

If you know all about sound therapy, it would be a mistake to dismiss Samonas as "just another" listening program.

Here's why. . .

First of all, this program offers 34 different selections that impact a variety of specific issues. That means that you, as the professional, can use Samonas in a highly prescriptive way. It is not a one-size-fits-all program.

Secondly, before I found Samonas, I was disappointed with the actual production of the music and sound on the cassettes and CDs I heard. Many are downright unpleasant to listen to, making compliance a difficult, uphill battle.

The beautiful sound and music that Samonas alone has achieved offers a pleasing and relaxing experience that children not only tolerate, but welcome. And the fact that there is variety in the music keeps children from being bored.

From a technical standpoint, the production values are exceptional. Samonas CDs deliver the higher frequencies that energize and stimulate the brain without the annoying jolt of frequencies being added and removed during the listening session.

Let me emphasize, this is unique to Samonas Sound Therapy.

The third compelling benefit of the Samonas program is the natural spatial component. By that I mean that the child is introduced to differing environments and the sound clearly reflects what that environment is.

For example, what we call "the birds" CD truly has the ambient sound of the great outdoors. The CDs reflect the 3 dimensional quality, the real feeling, of being "there" when the live recording was made.

This spatial component is especially useful for children who literally don't know where they are in relation to people or objects. (As, you know, children labeled "clumsy" often run into people and furniture simply because they aren't aware of how close they are.)

As I mentioned before, Samonas is commonly used in conjunction with other therapies to enhance the speed and effectiveness of the treatment. Samonas, by "rebooting" the auditory pathways, produces positive improvement in a variety of areas that don't seem related.

For instance, sound therapy is considered an obvious choice to teach the brain to process sounds better, which results in better reading skills.

However, we also see comparable improvement in motor skills, better attention, the ability to make friends, and a calmer demeanor. This is due to the complex brain-body relationship. When you re-direct the neural pathways, you see a change in physical activity.

The good results are reflected at school and at home with the family, reducing stress for everyone around the child as well.

The excellent results children achieve typically bring a stream of referrals from delighted parents who spread the word. This is a program that is good for your children and good for your practice as well.

Let's take a closer look at the program. . .

What it Does - It re-educates the ear and auditory pathways for increased learning, attention, communication, listening, and sensory integration.

This is accomplished through the use of specially modified classical music and nature sounds CDs that stimulate the hearing mechanism to take in a full spectrum of sound.

Why we use it - It has a huge impact on a number of skills including phonemic awareness, speech and language, organization, attention, focus, handwriting, verbal and written expression, social communication, and comprehension.

What we like about it - It's easy for families to use and is an incredibly gentle but powerfully dynamic tool for supporting the entire auditory system.

More than any other listening program on the market, it is completely prescriptive. . . it is NOT a one-size-fits-all program. Rather, you can adjust as you go to target the exact issues you need to work on.

In the past decade, several forms of therapeutic listening have been introduced in the United States. Although clinical results are very promising, these methods of treatment are often difficult and costly to access for both therapists and clients. Others are easier but not as comprehensive.

Samonas Sound Therapy, pioneered by Ingo Steinbach, now makes the benefits of specifically recorded and configured music available for clinic and home.

Training & Materials

Occupational therapists, speech therapists, educational therapists, reading teachers, tutors, classroom teachers - in fact, anyone who works with struggling students - will find the Samonas training to be an exciting adventure into success!

Samonas takes the works of earlier times, and expands them to the "next level" by applying the latest in modern technologies. The result is a combination of music selection and quality of recording that is superior in every way.

Based on the foundational work of noted French ENT specialist, Dr. Alfred Tomatis, Samonas adds the latest technologies to the recording process as well as the element of space, a crucial but often missing "piece of the puzzle" for many people.

Samonas I & II Training is a two day event, held from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm both days. The schedule will include time for both listening and networking.

The workshop covers. . .

  • How sound affects the learning processes of students.
  • The difference between music therapy and sound therapy.
  • Auditory processing and how it affects the brain and the body.
  • How to assess an auditory processing deficit.
  • How to choose the correct CDs for each student.
  • What content you'll find on these CDs .
